SSFCU promotes two to Assistant Vice President

Security Services Federal Credit UnionSecurity Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU) is pleased to announce that John Daves, Jr., has been promoted to assistant vice president of facilities and development and Letha Harrelson to assistant vice president of business development.

JohnDaves2014_FinalDaves joined SSFCU as manager of support services and real estate development in 2002 and has been instrumental in managing all of the credit union’s real estate leasing activities, construction development projects, branch modifications and mailroom operations. In his new role, he will oversee the maintenance and management of all corporately owned and leased facilities, as well as assist with construction development activities enterprise-wide.

Letha HarrelsonWith more than 35 years experience in project management, sales, marketing and customer service, Harrelson has managed new business development and financial literacy outreach for the credit union over the last 14 years. Her efforts helped the credit union receive the Dora Maxwell Award for Outstanding Social Responsibility and Honorable Mention for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award awarded by the Credit Union National Association – both multiple times. In 2012, she was named manager of the year for SSFCU’s Central Region.

Himes named Vice President at Security Service Federal Credit Union

Kate Himes Shoot 12-10-13Kate Himes has been named vice president of asset recovery for Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU). She will be responsible for effective operation and development of the asset recovery department, mitigating losses while providing service to credit union members in need.

With 20 years experience, Himes most recently was vice president of loan servicing with Golden 1 Credit Union.

Roberts named Marketing/Community Relations Manager at Security Service Federal Credit Union

Mary_Roberts_FinalMary Roberts has been named branch marketing and community relations manager for Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU). She will be responsible for overseeing marketing and sales campaigns, branch merchandising, community involvement and brand awareness for SSFCU’s Central Region branches.

Prior to joining the credit union, Roberts was an account supervisor with San Antonio-based, advertising agency The PM Group where she worked with multiple fast food franchise groups throughout Texas, including Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell and Long John Silver’s. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Makayla Matheson Receives 2013 BKD PRIDE Award

Matheson is a supervisor providing audit and accounting services to not-for-profit organizations, including private schools, universities, health and welfare organizations and foundations, as well as clients in the construction and real estate industries.  In her nearly five years with the firm, she has consistently demonstrated an upbeat, can-do attitude and a passion for training staff, which led her to sign on as a counselor for Camp BKD, the firm’s weeklong training and orientation for new hires.

Free Trade Alliance Names Interim Vice President

FTA logo colorFree Trade Alliance San Antonio has named Rogelio Garcia as Interim Vice President. Rogelio has been a part of Free Trade Alliance since 2000 and has been involved in various activities for the organization such as developing and promoting the Alliance and its programs locally and internationally, coordinating trade missions and events, membership recruitment and services, providing international expertise to members, serving as the liaison between the organization and its members and providing oversight and guidance to projects of high importance.

Prior to this promotion to VP, Rogelio served as Director of Business Development and led the Alliance’s foreign direct investment initiatives with his team. Rogelio helped attract foreign based companies to invest and do business in San Antonio through the International Business Development Center (IBDC) program and other trade related services. Since 2003, he has also been an adjunct professor at the University of the Incarnate Word teaching the Importing & Exporting business course.

As Vice President, Rogelio will be the chief operating officer for staff. He will report directly to the President & CEO of the organization and serve as the senior Alliance staff member in his absence.

She has played a role in business development and maintains good communication with teaming partnerships of the firm.

Preston Parker works for RABA KISTNER Consultants, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of RABA KISTNER, Inc. He earned this promotion in recognition of his important contributions to the firm over the last five years, but also for his role already supporting the firm’s growth into the future.

In 2009, he was promoted to Manager of the Materials Engineering Group of RABA KISTNER Consultants, Inc. in San Antonio.

Mr. Parker performs engineering investigations and studies dealing with construction related issues including analyzing and providing solutions to engineering problems and preparing forensic, engineering and testing/inspection reports. While responsible for total project management, he assists his team members by analyzing field data and laboratory test results, performing engineering calculations, and providing opinions and recommendations for the completion of engineering reports. Mr. Parker is also responsible for the training and mentoring of staff engineers and construction materials technicians.
