Steven E. Jones, Senior Vice President and COO of Raba Kistner Environmental (RKEI), has announced that Melissa L. Karlin, Ph.D. has been hired as an Environmental Planner, with responsibilities to include preparing environmental documents such as Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments, and others. Additionally, Melissa will be supporting RKEI’s environmental projects with GIS data management.
In this position, Karlin will be applying her knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Texas Antiquities Code.
Karlin’s most recent experience includes working as an Aviation Environmental Compliance Specialist in Fort Lauderdale Florida, as a Research Biologist for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; and as an Environmental Scientist in Hobe Sound, Florida.
Karlin’s received her Ph.D. in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems from the University of North Carolina in 2011. She received her M.S. in Biological Sciences in 2005, and her B.A. in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University in 2002.
