Habitat Home Centers help fund construction of Habitat homes

HabitatforHumanity_HOMECENTER SLOGAN LOGOThe Habitat Home Centers are home improvement thrift stores wholly owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio. All three San Antonio store locations sell both new and used home improvement materials to the public. Proceeds from sales in these stores benefit Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and help fund the construction of more Habitat homes within the community.

An asset to the community for 20 years, Habitat Home Centers seek to further help the San Antonio community reduce its waste by providing an alternative to the landfill. The Home Centers accept donations from individuals and organizations in order to stock much of their stores. Examples of home improvement items consist of: furniture, electronics, hardware, storage units, flooring, etc. These donations are tax-exempt to the extent allowable by law. Customers can feel good about shopping at The Home Center- it’s a great way to reuse materials in San Antonio’s building stock that might have been thrown away. Additionally, customers are able to buy good home improvement materials below normal retail prices while supporting Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio.

These environmentally friendly stores look to assist in rescuing over 170 million tons of material from going into the landfill*. The Home Center’s’ slogan “Give Us A Call, Don’t Trash It All” seeks to make San Antonio residents aware of the fact that they can take advantage of the tax deduction associated with donating their items to the Home Center before throwing them away. Examples of materials that are commonly available are doors, windows, tile, cabinets, light fixtures, paints.

Another means to donate can be done through their Wreaking Crew. Calling Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio prior to your expected demolition or tear out project, you can have a crew of staff and volunteers come and remove any recyclable or reusable items from your location free of charge, as long as the items are donated to the Habitat Home Centers. To schedule a visit please call the Walzem Rd. location at #210.599.7109.

Donations of home improvement materials are accepted Monday-Saturday and pickups for larger merchandise can be arranged Monday through Friday. Call the store nearest you for pick up information.
