North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce names 2014 Chair-Elect, new Executive Committee member

Turner is Vice President and Business Banking Manager at Wells Fargo Bank, for whom she has worked for more than 32 years. After receiving her degree from Baylor University, she began her banking career in Laredo, Texas and later moved with her family to San Antonio over 14 years ago.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnnie is married and has one 15-year-old daughter. Annie previously served on the Board and Executive Committee of the Hispanic Chamber. She also previously served as Secretary of the Executive Committee for the South Texas Business Fund and as Advisory Director of Business Careers High School’s Academy of Finance. Annie currently serves as Financial Coordinator on the Advisory Council of the Boys and Girls Club of Boerne. She is actively involved with NAWBO. She is an alumna of the Leadership Texas Class of 2000.

Personally Speaking: Marilyn has served on the Ambassadors committee for eight years; she chaired the Small Business Leaders Awards committee in 2012; she chaired the How 2 Series committee in 2011; and chaired the Ambassadors committee in 2010. She served on the Gala committee, and Marilyn was named the Ambassador of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She says, “The chamber offers tremendous networking opportunities and direct benefits from being actively involved. This is where I have chosen to focus the majority of my business-related volunteer hours on an ongoing basis.”

Rackspace Rackers give back to SAMMinistries

SAMM_4More than 100 Rackspace volunteers started their morning early at SAMMinistries‘ Transitional Living and Learning Center. By 10:00am, the volunteers had already painted the outside perimeter of the center, and by noon six dump truck loads of mulch had been spread.

“Thank you for giving the Rackspace CFO Group an opportunity to give back to such an amazing cause,” the Rackspace team said after completing their work. “A lot of sweat was involved but it was completely worth it. What a great experience.”

CIO Breakfast Chair: Manish Kapoor, NuStar Energy L.P.

Business Leaders Circles (BLC) Chair: Kate Crosby, Frost

A Business Banker and Small Business Relationship Manager at the Stone Ridge Market on Hwy 281 at Evans Rd. location, Kate is constantly learning more about this market and enjoys introducing Frost to North Central San Antonio. She has been with Frost for over 18 years.

About the Programs: BLC groups provide business owners, general managers, principals or general partners a forum to discuss business issues and concerns on a number of group topics including General Business, Marketing, Retail, Sales and Sole Proprietorship. Admission into BLC groups is ongoing and an application is required for admission.

Personally Speaking: Kate has been involved in BLCs for over seven years as a group facilitator and lead facilitator, and has also served on the ATHENA Award selection committee. She says the North Chamber is a great business resource for growth, business development and relationship building. “I encourage all business professionals to get involved and participate in the North Chamber,” says Kate.

Personally Speaking: Linda has been a member for about six months, but has already taken on a leadership role with the breakfast and serves on the Enterprising Women’s Conference committee. “I wanted to be more involved with in the business community around my area and the North Chamber gave me a way to do just that,” she says.
