Diabetes EXPO scheduled for March 29 in San Antonio

Diabetes Expo logoSan Antonio’s only diabetes self-care management health EXPO is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in Exhibit Hall A (free admission).

The Diabetes EXPO features information, demonstrations, exhibits, free health screenings and presentations.

Information: People with diabetes learn more about free self-management education classes and other services available through local organizations. Self-management education is considered an important part of patients’ ability to successfully manage their disease and prevent devastating complications. People at risk for diabetes learn how to implement healthy lifestyles to help prevent or delay diabetes.

Demonstrations and Exhibits: cooking demonstrations, fun youth activities and diabetes-focused exhibitors that feature information about free education classes as well as the latest diabetes products, meters, services and medicines.

Free Health Screenings: dental screenings, A1C (measure of estimated average blood glucose), cholesterol, blood pressure, foot screenings, kidney screenings, blood glucose, eye screenings, hearing screenings, and vascular screenings.

Free Health Presentations: Mayor Julian Castro will be delivering Welcome Remarks at 10:30am on the main stage. We will also have presentations Sanofi’s A1C Champion program, One Source Medical Group, and Peripheral Vascular Association.

The EXPO offers a fun, interactive environment to learn more about living successfully with diabetes and having an enjoyable quality of life despite their illness. VIA will be offering FREE bus rides to the EXPO from anywhere VIA travels. You can visit viainfo.net for the stop nearest you.
