Personally Speaking:  Jessica is currently the Chair of Power Lunch and a Co-Chair of the Ambassadors committee. She has been a member with the North SA Chamber for 6 years and has volunteered for various events such as the Executive Women’s Conference and the Annual Golf Tournament. Jessica is also a proud student of this year’s Leadership Lab class – an award-winning program developed by the chamber to promote leadership development and workforce preparedness. “The North SA Chamber plays a vital role in our community as it offers the ability to promote commerce, meet new people , build stronger connections and achieve both professional and personal goals.”

Volunteer Spotlight – Golf Tournament Chair: Adam Harris, Frost

Personally Speaking: Adam is a graduate of the North Chamber’s 2012 Leadership Lab class. His volunteer work with the North Chamber demonstrates the strength of his civic and personal business commitments. “The North Chamber plays a vital role in connecting local businesses in the community through efforts to advocate for business and education, recognize deserving leaders, and provide professional development,” he says. “The golf tournament is a great way to get out and enjoy a fun-filled day, and socialize and network with other members and to help support the North Chamber of Commerce,” Harris says.

Volunteer Spotlight: Linda Bachman, eESI

About the Program: The CFO Forum is a learning series that caters to CFOs and focuses on offering speakers that provide CFOs with timely topics and information they can use in their day-to-day responsibilities.

Volunteer Spotlight: Laura O’Donnell, Haynes and Boone, LLP

Laura specializes in FLSA collective actions and state wage and hour class actions as well as class discrimination, particularly EEOC claims of systemic discrimination. Laura is co-leader of the Firm’s Wage and Hour Litigation group.

About the Program: This year, the North Chamber and Haynes and Boone, LLP will present an Annual Employment Law Update for the 12th consecutive year. This full-day program is designed to update employers, human resources professionals, in-house councils, managers and business owners on the latest in employment law to help reduce and/or avoid costly litigation. Haynes and Boone lend their most skilled employment law attorneys from across Texas for this enriching legal seminar.

Personally Speaking: Laura has been involved with the North Chamber for many years working on the Enterprising Women’s Conference and chairing several EWC committees. Laura has chaired the Annual Employment Law Update since its inception 12 years ago.

Personally Speaking: David has been involved with Ambassadors for three years and says, “Being a member of the North Chamber has been a thrill for me. As an Ambassador, I have met many different people from various industries and have expanded my network exponentially.” David says his involvement has helped him gain referrals, new clients and close friends. “This is what the Chamber is all about – helping businesses become successful and having fun at the same time,” he adds.

Leadership Lab Chair: Lisa Pinto, SWBC

About the Program: Leadership Lab is an award-winning program that fosters and enhances leadership by focusing on a foundation of relationship building and professional development utilizing new and innovative practices. More than just a nine-month experience—the relationships nurtured and the personal development gained from the program inspire greatness in personal and organizational leadership.

Personally Speaking: Lisa is a 2008 graduate of the North San Antonio Chamber Leadership Lab. Lisa says, “This program is a wonderful personal and professional development course that helps all of the area’s rising stars! It helped me tremendously as I became a manager with SWBC.” Lisa also serves on the Chamber’s Gala creative committee.

CIO Breakfast Chair: Larry Ratcliff, Jefferson Bank

Personally Speaking: Larry has been attending North Chamber CIO Breakfast series for several years. He says, “The North Chamber excels at bringing business leaders together to achieve growth and opportunity.”

Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Lewis, CPS Energy – Social U Chair

About the Company: Lisa Lewis is Vice President of Corporate Communications & Media Relations for CPS Energy, the nation’s largest municipally owned energy utility providing both natural gas and electric service in and around the seventh-largest city in the nation. Lewis joined CPS Energy’s Marketing team in 2001, and manages internal and external communications, corporate responsibility, branding and social media. Before joining CPS Energy, Lisa worked in the advertising industry with service-industry clients from healthcare to transit.

About the Program: The Social Media Committee is working to deliver quality instruction in social and digital media marketing for non-profit and corporate marketing/PR tacticians, and small- to mid-sized business owners, executives and managers who utilize social media or are interested in trends and tactics and how they affect profitability. Social U is a social media university for savvy marketers and features instruction, discussion and networking among local thought, strategy and implementation leaders in social and digital media as well as an interactive social media experience on event day.

Personally Speaking: Lisa, who sits on the North SA Chamber board of directors, says, “Social U has created great interaction among communications professionals across our city.” Lisa says she enjoys the discussion at events and committee meetings, “I have the pleasure of working with great communicators: lifelong pros, bright young hotshots, brand experts – among the volunteers and the Chamber staff.” Lisa explains that most marketers are still learning when it comes to digital and social media, and she says, “Social U is a great forum for this type of professional education.”
