Professional Development
The North Chamber offers a myriad of professional development opportunities to keep members on the cutting-edge of best practices and business skills. North Chamber members plan and implement a number of training programs and discussion groups targeted at delivering topical and results-oriented educational opportunities.
Business Leaders Circles (BLC) (Ongoing - application required): BLC groups provide business owners, general managers, principals or general partners a forum to discuss business issues and concerns on a number of group topics including General Business, Marketing, Retail, Sales and Sole Proprietorship. Admission into BLC groups is ongoing and an application is required for admission. BLC Application
CIO Breakfast Series (Monthly): CIO breakfasts are a knowledge series designed exclusively for and by Chief Information Technology Officers. These programs offer various focus topics and speakers targeted to technology and IT executives.
CIO Panel (Annual): This informational program is designed exclusively for technology executives. The program format features discussion with esteemed local technology executives and the topic varies per year.
CFO Forums (Tri-annual): Forums are a knowledge series designed exclusively for Chief Financial Officers. These programs offer various focus topics and speakers targeted to financial executives.
Economic Update (Annual – Chairman's Council members only): Noted economist Dr. Ray Perryman provides a forecast of the local, state and national economies for the coming year for the chamber's highest level of investors.
Employment Law Seminar (Annual): This full-day program, presented by the North Chamber's non-profit foundation Lead SA, is designed to update employers, human resources professionals, in-house councils, managers and business owners on the latest in employment law to help reduce and/or avoid costly litigation. Continuing education credits are available.
Enterprising Women's Conference (Annual): This leadership and professional development conference for women features exhibits, informational speakers, robust networking opportunities and luncheon featuring the presentation of the prestigious ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award, ATHENA Leadership Award and ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award. Leadership Lab (Annual - application required): This award-winning and innovative approach to leadership development is targeted to San Antonio's up-and-coming business leaders from the corporate, non-profit and small business environments. This nine-month training program is based on the most current thinking, research and best practices in leadership development focusing on five core elements including: professional performance, leadership, management, community service and self-awareness. Small Business How 2 Series (Quarterly): In an ever-changing economy, the North Chamber is committed to small business development and is offering ways to help businesses diversify, identify and develop new lines of business while offering practical business knowledge. This series is designed to assist small businesses in achieving certification, doing business with public entities, accessing financing and capital and gaining practical knowledge to improve every aspect of their business.
SustainAbility Series (Tri-annual): The Lead SA Sustainability Series is designed exclusively to inform businesses about cost-saving sustainability programs available locally.
Technology Speaker Series: This series features technology-focused discussion topics and speakers in an effort to promote the technology industry and related products and services to the general technology user and technology executives.
